Kirsten's Carpetbag questions

Is Kirsten's carpetbag large enough to hold one of her outfits? I have an old catalog (2000) that shows her holding it, and it looks more like a purse than a carpetbag. I made a "makeshift" carpetbag for my Gotz Little Sister (now "Anne of Green Gables"), but I'd prefer a better one and have been eyeing Kirsten's for nearly two years (!), and wonder if it's worth asking for for Christmas. I'd like for it to be roomy enough for one outfit and not look goofy or "stuffed" and really resemble a carpetbag...not a real women's handbag being given to a doll. What do you think of it, if you have it? Is it big enough? Is it lined? The site doesn't give any details, so any opinions/comments you have about it are very appreciated. Thank you! I think if you were to put an outfit in it you would have to fold it up quite a bit. I think it would be considered a large purse. Maybe her slippers and nightgown? I would call it more of an overnight bag that wrinkles in jamies wouldn't matter. But the bag is very pretty. Much nicer than Samanthas valise(same size)

it is VERY nice. The carpet is heavy and thick and the leather parts are good quality. You can keep her undies in it or her socks and hair ribbons. You could put dress in it but the dress would get wrinkly I think.

Thank you so much...this is just the information I needed! [img]smile.gif[/img] I just keep a ratty-looking nightgown (off-white fabric...so it looks old) in it for Anne, just so the bag she has now doesn't look empty. I think it would work since I fold it up and don't mind if it gets wrinkled. If it doesn't work for her I can give it to Kirsten. Sounds like a fun thing to ask for for Christmas.

I am going to chime in here.....

Marina really likes the carpet bag and uses it a lot for Kirsten. It is made with a nice tapestry fabric and fully lined. All of the seams are well sewn and surged for duribility.The handels and edges with leather are well sewn and rivited to hold the handles and strap closure on.

As far as space goes, Marina keeps all of the hair ribbons and Kirstens accessories in the bag. Keeping a dress in it would be a bit much.

I think you will be quite pleased with the bag and hope you enjoy it. I didn't know how nice the quality would be, and by chance, was able to get my hands on one. It is one of the items that has really sold me on the quality of the historical items.
